Inland Drills Limited was founded by Tijjani Yahaya Kaura in the mineral belt of Zamfara State, the same state where his public service career began more than three decades earlier as Executive Chairman of Kaura Namoda Local Government.
A career spent inside the institutions that regulate resources
By the time Inland Drills was founded, Kaura had chaired a Senate committee responsible for holding federal institutions to constitutional standards, run the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority with an explicit governance and transparency agenda, and gone on to chair the Governing Board of the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority. Few company founders in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector arrive with that direct a line of sight into how licensing, regulation and compliance actually function from inside the federal machinery that oversees them.
Building where the career started, not at a remove from it
Zamfara’s mineral belt is not an arbitrary location choice. It is the region Kaura represented in the Senate, the state that gave him his first elected office, and the ground his public record is most directly tied to. Founding a resources company there means building where accountability to the community is most direct: this is not a distant investment, it is an operation in the state where Kaura is personally and publicly known.
The standard carried into the company
Inland Drills operates on the same principles that ran through Kaura’s public service: licensed titles rather than informal claims, measured geology rather than assumption, host communities engaged before equipment arrives, and financial and operational records built to withstand scrutiny. None of that is new territory for the company’s founder; it is the continuation of a standard he has applied to every office he has held.
What the company is not
Inland Drills is not a political vehicle and does not depend on any office Kaura holds or has held. Its licensing, its compliance record and its operations stand on their own, independent of who holds any particular federal position at a given time, a distinction the company treats as a matter of institutional integrity rather than a talking point.
